Kollam Boat Jetty
The lake begins from the south connecting the Thiruvananthapuram water canal to Alapuzha touching Kadavoor bridge, with peninsular areas of water and tourism resorts to Kureepuzha, Thrikkadavoor temple.
Kollam was the trade centr for cashew nut, tobacco, coir, timber, fish and khadi is now tourism hot spots with this lake. |

Sambranikodi
It is the turning point to Alapuzha, the state water route and the largest part of the lake. Chinese nets (fishing devices) in rows can be seen here. |

Veerabhadra Temple
This temple is located on the eastern shore of Ashtamudi lake almost in the middle of the lake shore and this is proper Ashtamudi – a marginal land area of 2 kms in length with water on 3 sides. |

Catching the Crab
One of the tasty catches from this lake is the crab. Catching it is risky. Its habit is to bite. The fine technique of crab catching is utmost curiosity with a string and round net. |

Boating
is the main attraction for lake everywhere. Boat – mechanized ones with carrying capacity of 10 plus, speed boats for 3 plus and double Decker passenger boats for 50 plus are available. A journey of minimum 2 hours to 5 hours will give the satisfaction. House boats for night stay is the new style in Tourism.
